Christian Education at Good Shepherd...

Education is an ongoing process in the life of a Christian. We offer Sunday school for the very young and we bring a message to the older folks at Long Term Care. In between, there are Bible study, Confirmation, and small group study opportunities for every age level and every faith level.

Christian education has always been important at Good Shepherd. Our young people receive instruction from the pages of Holy Scripture in Sunday school, Kids' Praise (after-school programming), and Confirmation. Youth and young adults continue to hear God's Word proclaimed through fellowship and Bible study. Adults continue to build on their foundation by studying the Bible.

Children's MINISTRY

Our Children (Pre-K - 4th graders)  are an extremely energetic and driven bunch of children. Therefore, our ministry to these age groups utilizes curriculum and models that encourage experiential, active learning while regularly reinforcing concepts through sound educational methods. In a nutshell, our ministry is age-appropriate, fun and devoted to connecting the children's lives to the life of the Church. For more information, please contact DCE Ted Stroming.

  • Kingdom Quest

Each Sunday at 10:15 am, Bible stories are brought to life through drama, puppets and real-life application as our Pre-K through 4th graders connect with the truth of God's interaction with people through the Bible- and even today! For more information, please contact DCE Ted Stroming.

    (Runs Sept. - May)

  • Kids' Praise

On Wednesday afternoons, from 3:30 pm-4:50 pm, children in 1st-4th grades continue to learn about the Bible, and most importantly, Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior. During this interactive time, children will enjoy a snack, learn Christian songs and hear a Bible lesson. For more information, please contact DCE Ted Stroming.

Service and Outreach Opportunities

Out of love for God and others, we faithfully give back and serve our town, our state, our country and our world through various service projects like: mission trips, 30 Hour Famine, Operation Christmas Child, helping with food and shelter relief within our community plus other chances as they arise. (Occur periodically during the year.)

  • LIVE

As part of the REVEAL requirement we have added a special program to enhance the experience. Weekly on Wednesdays students grades 5-8 are encouraged to attend LIVE (Live It Fully Everyday). Here the students will participate in devotions, lessons and explore everyday life issues. If you are not attending a REVEAL class we strongly encourage you to participate in the weekly LIVE meeting. Attendance will earn elective A credits. You will have to earn at least 4 LIVE credits to meet the confirmation requirement. Credits are based on attendance. 100-75% = 2 credits, 74-50% = 1 credit , below 50% = 0 credit.

*2017-2018: 8th grade must earn 1 credit, 7th grade must earn 2 or more credits, 6th grade must earn 3 or more credits and 5th grade must earn 4 or more credits, in the time they have left until confirmation.

  • F3

Come join us on twice monthly Sunday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Sometimes we meet up with First Lutheran), and once monthly here at 7:30 pm Wednesdays. We will meet for Bible study, some games, and food. It is open to any youth in 8th-12th grades. Whether a student understands the living relationship Jesus has with him/her or not, this is the place for him/her! (Runs throughout the year.)

  • Reveal

Our middle school students (5th-8th grade) participate in a highly flexible and personalized confirmation experience called REVEAL. This small group approach to teaching students about God's Word, Luther's Small Catechism, and other aspects of faith life for Christians allows students an opportunity to learn that is unique and attainable for every student.

Ninth graders continue to review the truths learned in Confirmation with DCE Ted Stroming as they prepare for the Rite of Confirmation in late October.

  • Fuel

Each Sunday at 10:15am, our 5th-8th grade students are challenged to look at Bible stories, learn more about them and apply them to their lives! Using a wholistic multimedia approach, this class is highly interactive and full of active learning. (Runs Sept. - May) .

  • Sr. High Ministry

Our Sr. High Youth (9th-12th graders) are an exciting community of believers who strive to seek and serve the lost and hurting wherever God has placed them. This is best accomplished by reaching out to others, teaching them about Jesus, and loving all people as Christ first loved us!
